Granite, gneiss, quartzite and sandstone are widely distributed throughout the areas of Precambrian Basement. Dolerite and amphibolite also occur in central and eastern Uganda though they tend to be badly weathered. Volcanic tuffs and agglomerates occur extensively in the southwest and east of the country.
